Reiki is a gentle non-invasive healing art, founded in the 1920’s by a Japanese Bhuddist Monk, Mikao Usui.

Reiki energy is "channelled" through the practitioner's hands to promote healing and provides a safe, natural means of treating mind, body and spirit. All you need do is be willing to receive it. Reiki energy flows to wherever it is most needed, addressing the underlying causes as well as the symptoms of ‘dis-ease‘. It is not an alternative therapy, it works as a very effective complement to any medical treatment. If necessary you will be advised to visit your doctor.

You will find that Reiki can produce a feeling of peace and relaxation. Clients can become so relaxed that they may get into a state of ‘floatiness‘, neither awake nor asleep, though many do fall asleep. Many feel tension and pain just flowing out of their bodies; many see beautiful colours. It is a very individual experience; always very beneficial.

Reiki may relieve conditions such as stress, insomnia, depression and anxiety. It can also reduce and in some cases eliminate pain and can speed up the healing of cuts, sprains and other injuries. Reiki has been known to alleviate altogether some chronic complaints and serious illnesses.

Reiki is not massage. The treatment is carried out with you fully clothed and generally lying down.

I generally scan your body to pick up on areas which specifically need worked on.

To treat, I gently place my hands upon all the energy centres of the body. These can be found at the crown, brow or third eye, throat and heart (though I tend to work over the thymus which is under the sternum). I then move on to the Solar Plexus, just above the tummy button, then the Sacral area at the level of the hip bones, then I work hands-off for the Base Centre. I then move down to the knees and feet. If you have a specific problem or if I have picked up an area needing worked upon when I was scanning your body then I may work for a good part of the treatment on that area.

At the first visit, a case history will be taken to find out about your health, sleeping pattern, medication, general lifestyle and anything causing stress in your life. On subsequent visits I will note down any changes you may have experienced during or since your last treatment.

You may choose to have a 60 or 90 minutes treatment.
