CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle, non-invasive manipulative technique. Seldom is a pressure in excess of five grams applied. Examination is done by testing for movement in various parts of the system.

The name CranioSacral is derived from the system's associated bones. Included are those of the skull, face and mouth - which make up the cranium - and the spinal column, which extends down to the sacrum. Cerebro-Spinal fluid is essential to the health and proper function of the central nervous system.

How does CranioSacral Therapy help you?

Each of us produces our own different reactions to trauma, stress and loss of healing capacity, so we each present own unique combination of ailments, pains and dysfunction. Because CranioSacral Therapy helps clear the way for our self-healing mechanisms to be more effective, its scope is very wide indeed.

CranioSacral Therapy may help chronic pain, reduced mobility ("stiff joints"), low energy, headaches and migraines, jaw problems, neuralgia, learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalclia, menstrual and menopausal problems and clumsiness. In newborns, infants and children, colic, hyperactivity, feeding and sleeping problems are often helped. Routine evaluation of newborns often reveals and permits the easy release of strains and restrictions that may, if left, lead to chronic dysfunction in later life. This applies not only where birth has been difficult, but also with 'normal' deliveries.

At your first appointment, which includes detailed medical and life history, you will be asked about any accidents, falls, dental work etc.

Jan Attkins has completed CranioSacral Therapy 1 & 2, Paediatrics, Somato Emotional Release 1 & 2 and Visceral Manipulation 1 with the Upledger Institute UK.
