I suppose I started my journey towards healing at about 3. My mother tells the story of sitting with me on her lap on a bus and the passenger sitting next to her told her that she was a matron, and could tell when she looked at little girls, those who would become nurses. At 5 years, when anyone asked me what I’d like to be when I grew up, I proudly said - ‘a nurse or the lady that cut of fishes heads‘. I quickly went off that idea when the fishmonger told me that my hands would get cold. So at 16 I went for an interview at the Victoria Infirmary and was allowed to start my training at 17. I was often told by patients that I had healing hands and was forever getting into trouble for stopping to listen to patients worries rather than making sure there were only three things on the locker tops, and all the bed wheels and pillows were pointing in the right direction. After General Nursing I went on to become a Midwife and then specialised in Neonatal Paediatrics in Rottenrow, sadly no longer standing. I loved working with babies and my heart sings whenever a mother books in a baby for CranialSacral Therapy.
A week before my third son Richard was born Chris, my husband, and I started a Video Production Company and I am sorry to say I never went back to nursing. I had no experience at all in video production but Chris had worked in both BBC & STV and was a great teacher and soon I got the hang of it all.
In 1990 I was introduced to Chuck and Lency Spezzano, who are the founders of the Psychology of Vision. I attended and assisted on numerous workshops, eventually producing several training videos for them. I will be eternally grateful for all they have taught me over the years.
It was at one of their workshops in London that I was first introduced to Reiki. I was having one of my very rare asthma attacks. And a friend, asked if I would like some Reiki. At that stage I had never heard of Reiki, but was willing to try anything to be able to breathe properly again. So Daniel sat behind me for about 15 minutes with his hands on my back over the lung areas and gradually my breathing eased. There and then I knew I had to learn how to do this for others and so my therapy journey began.
It was as if I was driven to study as much as I could, so as well as learning and now teaching Reiki, I now practise Clinical Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Hypnotherapy, CranioSacral Therapy, Master Energy Colour Healing in which I am currently undergoing my teacher training and more recently I have trained in Hot Stone Massage and Hopi Ear Candling. I keep on saying that is enough and then some other therapy comes into my consciousness.
11 years ago we moved to the beautiful Isle of Arran and I set up in practice and work in a treatment room at the back of Inspirations of Arran, in Brodick.
I hope you find this website a useful resource. If I have not met you yet, I hope to do so soon.
