What is Reiki?

Reiki is beautiful healing energy, which is channelled through the hands of the practitioner. Rei means Universal Wisdom, and Ki (Chi) is the life-force that flows through all living things. Reiki is pronounced Ray-Key.

Anyone can learn to give Reiki. You do not need to have any special gift to practise, just the willingness to be used as a channel for the Reiki energy and the intention for it to be used for the recipient‘s highest good.

During your Reiki training you will receive Attunements that allow you to channel the energy. The process is like a radio being tuned in so the sound is clear. This allows you to be connected to your true or higher self. The attunements clear the meridians of the body and allow the energy to flow through you for the rest of your life. It can be quite an emotional process for many people. Once attuned, you can access Reiki Energy simply by asking it to flow.

No religious belief is necessary to learn and use Reiki. I have taught people of all faiths and none, and I encourage people to use it with their own belief system, so the energy may be viewed as Unconditional Love of God or Universal Life Force Energy.

During a Reiki treatment, the client generally becomes very relaxed… so relaxed that they may get into a state of ‘floatiness‘, neither awake nor asleep. Many feel tension and pain just flowing out of their bodies; many see beautiful colours. It is a very individual experience, always very beneficial. Reiki works on three levels: Mind, Body and Spirit, often working on the underlying problem that is causing ‘dis-ease‘ in the body.

This beautiful hands-on treatment can last up to 90 minutes. The client receives it fully clothed and, where inappropriate to touch, the hands are lifted off the body. As the practitioner channels the energy, they get the benefit of it too, because it is not their own energy they are giving, so they don’t become depleted and exhausted.
